A Guide To The Best Restaurants & Pubs In Portpatrick

No visit to Portpatrick is complete without paying a trip to at least one of the local pubs. There are quite a few to choose from in the area, so here is a quick guide to what is on offer.

Harbour House Hotel

This old pub dates back to 1790 and the lovely old building is situated in en excellent location on the harbour.  You will find a great view here and the choice of real ales includes Abbots. They also offer a wide selection of whiskies and serve traditional pub food throughout the week.

The Waterfront Hotel and Bistro

This restaurant is right on the waterfront as the name suggests and whether you want breakfast, lunch or an evening meal, the popular eatery is always ready to cater for you. The Waterfront are happy to cater for large groups as long as you notify them in advance. Whether you want a fancy cocktail in their intimate bar or to try out some of the tasty real ales, the place is definitely worth checking out.

Campbell’s Restaurant

A great place to pop into after a days sailing, Campbell’s Restaurant serve a mix of seafood, British pub grub, Scottish cuisine and there are a wide range of vegetarian options also. There is no need to reserve a table, although at weekends it does tend to get busier then during the rest of the week.

Henrys Bay House Restaurant

Henrys Bay House is an award winning restaurant which overlooks Loch Ryan. With a fantastic sun terrace for outdoor dining, they have many special deals such as an early bird special that offer two courses for just £12.50. If you are not hungry, you could always just pop in for a drink in the comfortable and stylish bar. Sunday lunch is also a specialty here and is served between 12pm and 9pm every Sunday. Prices for a three course Sunday lunch are around £15, which is extremely good value. The restaurant is closed all day on Mondays. Booking is not essential but during busier times of the year, it is advisable to ring in advance to secure you table.

The Port Pantry

If you are just after a coffee and a light snack then The Port Panty could be just what you are looking for. This cosy and casual coffee house is ideal for the whole family and has an extensive menu of sandwiches, light snacks, cakes and more. Situated on the main street and open from 9am until 10pm, if you are not after a large heavy meal, this it is a great place to stop and refuel.
